Democratic lawmakers have released a fresh batch of what they termed "disturbing" pictures from the estate of adjudicated sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, including among others Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and former British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The first release of 19 images—a portion of which have been previously circulated—plus another 70 released later on Friday constitute a tiny fraction of the nearly 100,000 images provided to the House oversight committee, which is examining the behavior and associations of Epstein.
The disgraced financier was a victim of apparent suicide in a New York prison cell in 2019 after being charged with sex-trafficking crimes.
Featured among the high-profile individuals visible in the opening set are well-known figures such as film director Woody Allen; Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates; and Richard Branson, founder of the Virgin empire.
Donald Trump is pictured in three of the initial 19 images. In one, he is seen with six women, whose faces are redacted.
The White House addressed the release in a statement, accusing Democrats of purposefully "choosing" the images for electoral motives and to "seek to establish a false narrative."
"The Democrat hoax against President Trump has been repeatedly debunked," a White House spokesperson remarked, asserting that "the current government has achieved more for Epstein's survivors than Democrats have ever done by frequently urging openness, making public reams of records, and demanding more inquiries into Epstein's Democrat friends."
The photos were released without context, but per a California Democrat and ranking member of the oversight committee, they prompt further inquiries about Epstein's links with the rich and powerful.
"The moment has come to halt this White House cover-up and bring justice to the survivors of Jeffrey Epstein and his powerful friends," he declared in a statement.
The release of these images coincides with the oversight committee proceeding with its inquiry into the Epstein case.
